Edmund R. Champagne 1911 2012 CHICOPEE Edmund R. Champagne, a seventy five year resident of Chicopee passed away Tuesday, May 22, 2012. He was born in St. Julie, Quebec Province, Canada, May 30, 1911, the son of the late Joseph and Marie Ida (Cartier). He was a communicant of the former St. Mary's Church in Willimansett. Edmund retired from The Springfield Armory as a die sinker. He was a sports official for football, baseball, basketball, and coached intramural boys basketball. Some of his happiest times were spent at his summer home on Cape Cod and in his boat in Wellfleet Harbor. He was predeceased by his parents, his wife of 68 years, Olive (Pat) in 1998, daughters Candace Champagne Robinson in 2002, and Deanna Flynn in 2011, sister Lillian Fisher, brothers Norbert and John. He is survived by his sister Mary Davitt of Texas, daughter Sandra Shuback and her husband Bud, grandchildren Jeffery Flynn and wife Lisa, Christopher Flynn and wife Patricia, Kimberlee Brennan, Kelley Assarian and husband Gregory. Great grandchildren, Scott Flynn, Samantha Assarian, Ashley Assarian, Meghan Brennan, Brian Brennan, and Morgan Flynn. The funeral will take place from the Corridan Funeral Home, 333 Springfield St. at the Elms College Chapel, with burial in St. Patricks Cemetary.
